Last post for Ecosystem

Well my ecosystem is gone down hill everything is gone except little tiny one celled organisms. The only thing you can see know is dirt and water and the tiny organisms. Next time i will put less dirt less water and more grass and other plants with worms, ants, and easy living organisms.

Buffalo Creek Experiment 11/28/12

Our class will be testing the water in Buffalo Creek over the course of eight weeks. We are hoping to decide whether or not it is a healthy stream. the things we will we be looking for oxygen in water, if there is alkaline in the water, the pH balance of the water, and the temperature in the water.
Its very important to find out if Buffalo Creek is healthy because if the pH balance is not between 6.5-8.5 it is not healthy the fish could die off and also not be able to lay eggs; which causes no offspring. The other test are important too they all play a roll in making sure if the water is healthy or not; the part I do in this experiment is checking the pH balance and temperature of the water. Checking in the temp. of the water helps decide what has changed. The organisms change due to temp. of the water.

Jachin's buffalo creek experiment.

Our class will be testing the water of buffalo creek over the course of eight weeks. we are hoping to decide whether or not it is a healthy stream. The things we will be looking for is if there is oxygen in the creek. If the creak eater is alkaline parasitic. If it neutral then fish can live in it. if there's oxygen in the water fish cannot live as good. It is important to find out if buffalo creek is healthy because so we can tell when a stream or creak is healthy or not. also good to report our findings to environment control to see if they can make it healthy?

11/28/12 Montana's Ecosystem update.

11/28/12-1.) My ecosystem, has changed a lot I have noticed organisms that I did not put in there like ants, snails, and tiny little bugs that are everywhere and hard to see. Also my grass started to grow back so its helping the organisms survive. But you can still see a lot of decay from the organisms and grass dying.
The decay from the grasshoppers and some ants play the role in the nitrogen cycle. Also the grasshoppers that decayed and the living organisms left alive play the role of the carbon cycle. The water cycle is some what still working a few strains of grass is growing but yesterday there was more grass than there is now. I think someone shook my bottle up because there is dirt everywhere and there were baby snails growing on the side of the bottle and there dead now and it is a mess; wasn't like that yesterday :(. The oxygen cycle is still working my grass and some organisms are surviving at the moment.

My Ecosystem week 3; montana's

Now its all going down hill; my grass is dying as well as both grasshoppers are dead. There is a tiny beetle left alive but I think it going to die soon to.Also left is a few baby ants. I think its because we had a lack of planning for our ecosystems and not enough time. I could have done WAY better. Fail........

Montanas Ecosystem

My ecosystem consist of rocks,water,soil,grass, and two grasshopers in a bottle taped up so nothing can get out or in. I wasnt here the second day we went outside or I would have got more organisms like worms and slugs. I think my ecosystem will be succeesful. But could have been better.

Marcellus Shale :D

Today I read an article about the Marcellus Shale. The Marcellus Shale is here. in other words is a lage untapped natural gas reserve.

We have been studying the carbon cycle in class and the marvellus shale is related to the carbon cycle because it recycles itself by the same process.
